Lets Fund It completed another donation recently for a local charity called Star Rescue. Star Rescue is a charity that is devoted to animal rescue, and is based in the West Limerick area. They are a small group of volunteers, who share a common desire – to help animals in need.

All monies raised by Star Rescue goes directly to buying feed for the rescued animals, as well as paying transport and vets costs. 

Every cent they raise is used to help the animals, which resonated with Let’s Fund It’s desire to directly benefit charity end users as well as providing transparency to donors. LFI and Star Rescue also shared similarities in terms of a small volunteer group sharing a common goal. Hence, the LF team felt that Star Rescue was the perfect charity partner to assist, and looked forward to working directly with the Star team in organizing a donation.

Lets Fund It reached out directly to Star Rescue via Facebook, to which the Star team promptly replied. The LFI team were introduced to Eileen Grant, a volunteer with the charity who was instrumental in assisting LFI in identifying goods that could be purchased to assist the animals. 

The donation items to be purchased included:

13 x Martingale Collars

5 x Ferplast Ergonomic Chest Harnesses

4 x Raised Dog Beds

4 x Two-Ply Blue Roll

Our team began sourcing and purchasing these products, with the total donation coming to €475.98. Once all the items were purchased, LFI notified Eileen, who suggested that LFI should accompany Star Rescue in its monthly public walk. This would allow LFI to get a first hand look at the animals supported by the donation, as well as a personal touch of delivering the supplies in person to the Star team. The charities met together outside the UL library on a lovely sunny afternoon on the 27th February, 2022. Star rescue treated LFI to a lovely walk around the UL campus, discussing the work they do and their origins. The LFI team made it their mission to ensure that each dog present for the walk received its daily quota of pets and rubs. A fun day was had by all, with many tired feet (and paws!) after a refreshing walk.
