Let’s Fund It contacted Irish Guide Dogs by email to offer a donation to support the charity users who benefit from their services. Let’s Fund It spoke to John from the Dublin Office and Lorraine from the Cork Office.

Lorraine explained to us Irish Guide Dogs offer a 3-week residential training programme which involves service users coming to their National Training Centre in Cork where their team of expert instructors train them together with their new guide dog on everyday skills, from crossing roads to using public transport, as well as dog handling, feeding, grooming and vet care. Lorraine told us that are currently developing their residential garden area used by service users during their stay.

As part of this development, Irish Guide Dogs wished to add a seating area for residents to use. Let’s Fund It thought this would be a fantastic, worthwhile endeavour so agreed to purchase a garden furniture set for the service users.

Let’s Fund It sourced and purchased a garden furniture set consisting of a table, 2 armchairs and a sofa chair as well as a set of cushions.

The delivery was completed by Let’s Fund it on Friday, 29th of July 2022. Let’s Fund It visited the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind National Training Centre in Cork and met with Lorraine. Lorraine gave us a really interesting and informative tour of their centre. We learned that Irish Guide Dogs run a number of projects covering a variety of areas that support many service users. Irish Guide Dogs train Guide Dogs, Assistance Dogs, Community Dogs, Companion Dogs as well as providing Orientation, Mobility and Independent Living Skills courses.

We thanked Lorraine for the incredible work Irish Guide Dogs do for their service users nationwide and we know our donation will go to great use.
