Irish Bee Conservation Project

Let’s Fund It’s latest donation was to the assistance of a local Irish charity called the Irish Bee Conservation Project (IBCP). The Irish Bee Conservation Project was established to provide information to communities regarding bee habitat requirements and to increase the survival of all species of native Irish bees through research, ecology support and biodiversity protection. The charity works to protect Irish Honey Bees, Bumblebees and Solitary Bees. Most admirably, IBCP is entirely run by volunteers.

LFI and IBCP began correspondence via emails and phone calls with Pat Deasy, a volunteer working with the charity. Pat assisted LFI in ascertaining how it could best assist IBCP via the donation of goods and services. After some constructive discussions, IBCP identified 170 foundations and 170 national deep frames that were required. This equipment was vital in supporting IBCP in sustaining and growing native Irish Bee species across Ireland.

The LFI team began work sourcing and pricing these frames, allocating a budget of €450 for the project. These were purchased by the LFI team, and delivered directly to IBCP on March 2nd, 2022. The LFI team was grateful to assist IBCP in the Bee-autiful work they do four our local bees!
