Children’s Ark At UHL

The Children’s Ark in the University Hospital Limerick is the only inpatient facility for sick children in the Mid-West. The Children’s Ark is a purpose-built paediatric unit for children with 49 beds in the Sunshine and Rainbow wards, a high-dependency unit, a cystic fibrosis unit and a Caterpillar day ward. There is also a school for children staying in hospital so that those that are well enough can keep up with their school work. The Children’s Ark is a bright, child-friendly paediatric unit to make children feel more comfortable during their stay at hospital

Let’s Fund It has helped the Children’s Ark of University Hospital Limerick every year and this year was no different.

Let’s Fund It reached out to Orlaith, the head of the Children’s Ark Playroom to offer help through a donation for Christmas goodie bags. These goodie bags would be filled with toys and sweets and chocolates and given to children visiting the Children’s Ark over the Christmas period.

Let’s Fund It offered a donation of 200 of these goodie bags for the children and the staff at UHL agreed that it would be an ideal donation to give as the children would then be each have a treat during Christmas.

Let’s Fund It agreed then set out on purchasing suitable toys and treats.

This delivery was completed by Let’s Fund it on Thursday, 25th November 2021. Let’s Fund It visited the University Hospital in Limerick and met with Orlaith & Kris.

They explained that the gift bags and goodie bags are superb gifts for children and should make them very happy over the Christmas period.

🥰 A Special Thank you to everyone who helped make this donation possible! Especially our volunteer Ciara!
